At the beginning of the new year, Andis Paegle joined bass-baritone Till Schulze for a performance of Franz Schubert’s Winterreise at the Lutheran Church in Bargteheide, Germany. One of the most significant song cycles in the classical repertoire, Winterreise explores themes of solitude, introspection and quiet hope through 24 settings of poems by Wilhelm Müller.
Till Schulze performed the vocal part, while Andis Paegle accompanied on piano. The concert also featured a newly restored Steinway & Sons grand piano, offering audiences the opportunity to experience Schubert’s masterpiece on a carefully refurbished instrument.
