Church Music

For more than two decades, Andis Paegle has shaped the musical life of the Lutheran parishes of Bargteheide and Eichede. Alongside worship services, his work includes concert series, participatory music projects, artistic collaborations and innovative concert formats that bring people together through music.

Music in the Region

Through a variety of concert series, Bargteheide and Eichede have developed a vibrant cultural programme. Chamber music, organ concerts, literary events and guest artists contribute to the rich musical life of the region.

The annual concert programme of the two parishes is published each year in a shared cultural brochure.

Piano & Poetry

Piano & Poetry brings together literature and music in an open artistic dialogue. Together with Pastor Tim Ströver, literary texts and reflections become the starting point for spontaneous piano improvisations, creating a unique conversation between word and sound.

Co-created by Andis Paegle and the local clerical team, Word Meets Music combines literature, personal stories and live music in a variety of artistic settings. Pastors, musicians, actors and guest artists come together to create evenings of reflection, inspiration and cultural exchange. Guest performers have included actor Markus Stolberg (Großstadtrevier, SOKO Wien).

Every autumn, Orgelpunkt presents a series of short evening concerts featuring the Bensmann organ in Bargteheide. Guest organists present personal programmes, offering audiences new perspectives on the instrument and its repertoire. The series has become a well-established part of the region’s cultural calendar.

In Bargteheide and Eichede, music is not only performed, it is shared. Participatory formats such as the annual Christmas Oratorio Sing-Along  and Advent concerts invite singers of all ages and experience levels to perform alongside choirs and instrumental ensembles.

Founded more than twenty years ago as a youth band, Rock around the Church  remains active to this day. Many of its original members still perform together, presenting concerts featuring rock, pop and folk music alongside original compositions. The project is a lasting example of musical community across generations.

Broadcast Services

Services from the Bargteheide Church have been broadcast live on German public radio in collaboration with NDR and WDR. These special broadcasts reached audiences far beyond the local community and featured guest musicians including members of the NDR Big Band.
